Installation is as easy as fitting contact points with no permanent modifications and carried out in less than an hour. Contact points can therefore be re-fitted if originality becomes important. Once fitted, it will never require any further maintenance for optimum timing.

How it Works
Instead of having a mechanical contact set, Lumenitions Systems use three basic components;

1. An Optical Switch (mounted in the distributor)
An infra red light beam is detected by a silicon phototransistor. This beam is interrupted by a revolving chopper fixed to the distributor cam and has one blade for each cylinder. It is unaffected by light, dirt and dampness. The optical switch is fixed to the same plate as were the points, so that speed and vacuum advance remain unchanged.

2. The Power Module
This receives the electronic pulses from the optional switch and using an internal High power Darlington transistor charges the coil. The Exact positioning of the chopper determines spark timing, and dwell time is determined either by the width of the chopper or internally to give variable dwell performance.

3. A Distributor fitting Kit
In order to mount the optical switch in exactly the right position in the distributor, specifically engineered mounting plates and brackets have been developed to ensure perfect installations and in vast majority of cases without any permanent modifications. Installation is also possible without any special tools.

The Optronic System
This is for strightforward points replacement using the existing coil offering excellent all round performance and is ideal for all road and classic cars as well as boats.

The Performance System
This system is more suited to high speed engines and is ideal for all performance drivers, particularly race and rally applications.

Performance Ignition Systems

The performance ignition takes you beyond the standard system and as its name suggests, is specifically for the performance driver who appreciates the importance of the ignition system and demands more power and performance.

Comprises

* High performance power module & optical switch

* High energy ignitions coil. electronically matched to power module

* All necessary mounting brackets, screws, waterproof connectors, assembly, ignition wire, cable tidy, adapters and rubber boots and plug tools.

Feature of Performance Ignitions

* Microcircuits control of the coil currents - gives optimum performance across speed and voltage range, ensuring constant maximum spark energy at coil.

* Variable dwell angle - optimise energy use to prevent low speed coil overheat.

* Automatic switch off - prevent electrical damage in the event of ignition begin left on but with instant switch on when engine is again turned over.

* Fully compatible with the Lumenition engine rev limiters for complete protection.

Engine Rev Limiter

Provides complete protection yet lets engine produce full power until the pre-set rpm limit is reached. It is designed primarily to prevent engine damage, in case of a missed gear selection, or the propeller leaving the water in rough seas on a power boat.

The patented feature of our engine speed limiter lies in its ability to prevent a mis-timed spark occurring under any circumstances. The Rev.Limiter can be fitted to any engine having an inductive type ignition system (either contact breaker or electronic ignition). It should not be used on capacitive discharge, multi-spark, magneto or flywheel types of ignitions
