Using a combination of hard-wired logic and a digital microcontroller running sophisticated, algorithm based software, Electromotive's TEC provides real-time computing solutions to engine controls. Only Electromotive's Total Engine Control system dramatically reduces the dynamic errors present in other digital systems. The speed and accuracy of TEC's computing abilities means more performance than is possible with any other system, up to 15% more!

Take away all the bells and whistles, peel back the hype, and engine control comes down to two basics - ignition and fuel. These have been controlled mechanically for over a century. Through digital electronics, better ways of dealing with fuel and ignition tuning now exist. Within the range of electronic engine control systems, Electromotive's Total Engine Control (TEC) systems stand apart from the crowd. The TEC offers unique features available nowhere else:

Fuel

The higher the load on an engine, the more fuel it will need. The entire TEC fuel control system is based on this simple concept. A raw fuel curve is generated with just two numbers - TOG and IOT. More load, more fuel. Simple. TOG changes the slope of the raw fuel curve, IOT moves the curve up or down. Two numbers are all that is required to get your engine up and running. If engines were perfectly efficient devices in all operating ranges, this is all you would need to tune an engine. They are not perfect, so a 64 position Volumetric Efficiency Table is provided to fine tune the raw fuel.curve to meet your exact needs. Other enrichments cover starting, warm up, acceleration and deceleration. Tuning parameters may be changed in real time, with the engine running, through the engine monitor screen.

Ignition

Crankshaft triggering combines with Electromotive's patented* digital circuitry to give the TEC the best ignition available. Using a crank mounted 60 tooth wheel, timing accuracy is +1/4 degree. Multiple coils allow more time to charge and discharge each coil, guaranteeing the highest energy spark possible. With spark duration up to three times longer than any capacitive-discharge system, more complete combustion occurs and the engine makes more power.
With the TEC, spark timing accuracy is unmatched. Using a table laid out with engine speed and load, all engine conditions may be fine tuned directly from the interactive engine monitor screen. Advance can be added for light load cruising and taken away under boost . . . it's all just a keystroke away.

TEC INPUTS

Engine RPM and position Measured with a 60 tooth wheel and a magnetic sensor. 120 tooth wheels for camshaft or distributor mounting are optional. Complete drop-in trigger assemblies are also available for some applications.

Engine load The computer must know the load on an engine to be able to correctly inject just the right amount of fuel. Electromotive uses several inputs or combinations of inputs to achieve this.

Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) measures vacuum or, on boosted engines, pressure in the intake manifold.

Mass Air Flow (MAF) simplifies the calibration process by measuring the actual
mass of the air, in pounds, the engine is drawing in. The TEC may be programmed to
use either MAP or MAF.

Knock Sensor The TEC includes programmable knock control.

Exhaust Gas Oxygen (EGO) Sensor Measuring the oxygen content of the exhaust gases allows the air to fuel ratio of the intakte charge to be monitored and controlled in closed loop operation.

Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Measures the angle the throttle is open

Manifold Air Temperature (MAT) and Coolant Temperahre (CLT)

TEC OUTPUTS

Fuel Injector Control The TEC calibration software allows the choice of batch fired injectors, Phase Sequential or True Sequential firing. Special configurations are also available for Throttle Body Injection.

Idle Air Control (IAC) The TEC is configured to operate a standard GM style idle control motor for clean starts and a rock steady idle. Electromotive stocks several styles of bodies for plumbing the IAC motor.

Dual Rev Limiting Both a primary and an auxiliary rev limiter are available. An auxiliary limiter may be activated by an external switch and is provided to allow drag racers to bllrn in their tires. This feature may also be used as a "valet" mode. Limiting may be "soft", through retarding timing, or "hard" (coil cut off).

Diagnostic Read Out Check Engine Light A dash mounted engine check light is activated in the event of a sensor failure and will flash specific failure codes to aid in diagnosis. A limp-home mode is enabled in case of sensor failure.

Fuel Pump Output The TEC-II incorporates a ten amp switched output for a fuel pump or other switched circuit. The pump is activated for twenty seconds at key on, and turned off if the engine is then not running.

Tach Output A standard low (0 to 12) volt tach output signal capable of running any modern tachometer is provided. A tach amplifier is available for older tachs that require a higher voltage signal.

General Purpose Output (GPO) The GPO is a pulse width modulated output which may be programmed with a sixty four position map. It uses the same break points as the ignition advance and V/E tables. It can be used to run any pulse width modulated device, such as a wastegate control solenoid or a nitrous oxide injector. Current output is limited, so a relay must usually be used in these circuits.

Engine Monitor Screen and Data Logging Just bring the interactive Engine Monitor Screen up on your computer to monitor and adjust engine functions in real time. Air/fuel ratios are indicated on screen, eliminating the need for additional meters. And with only two numbers to set for the base fuel curve, calibrations are simple to understand and implement. Data loging, with its graphical output, allows the user to record and display run data on a PC.

THE REAL-TIME DIFFERENCE

TEC's are available individually, as kits packaged with all required sensors and interactive control calibration soflware, or in packages ready to bolt-on to your engine. Systems are available for all applications, including marine engines, gaseous fuel and racing applications.

When it comes to winning races, having the right parts makes all the difference. And when it comes to engine controls, nothing matches Electromotive for real world performance. All things being equal, vehicles equipped with Electromotive's engine management systems win races.
The basic technology behind Electromotive's HPV ignitions and TEC engine management systems clearly sets them apart from all other systems. Beginning with the accuracy provided by 60 crankshaft position inputs per engine revolution, which are further subdivided between the 6° marks 25 times electrically. Only Electromotive's patented HREIC chip has the ability to charge the multiple coils to maximum capacity and initiate the spark at exactly the right time, even under hard acceleration. Using hard-wired logic circuits, Electromotive ignitions operate as real time devices, without the dynamic errors inherent in other control systems. These dynamic errors often translate into incorrect timing values under acceleration or undercharged coils that have insufficient energy to light the mixture. The computational delays involved with microcontroller based systems mean the timing values, under rapidly changing conditions, are for what the conditions that were measured many steps before. Electromotive's real time accuracy translates directly into maximum acceleration, whether you are merging onto the freeway, leaving the lights at the drag strip, or coming out of the last turn heading to the checkered flag.
A unique fuel control system integrates with this ignition to form the TEC. With the TEC, you have complete control of your engine. Ignition and fuel parameters may now be changed with only a tap on the keyboard through TEC's Interactive Engine Monitor Screen. Before looking at what differentiates TEC's fuel control from other systems, remember that other systems mustperform all ignitionandfuel calculations in the time TEC has to deal with fuel. Thanks to the combination of the HREIC chip with a microcontroller, the computational overhead is reduced dramatically.
Starting with this advantage, Electromotive goes even further. In place of other's table based fuel systems, the TEC uses simple, and very fast, algorithms to establish base fuel values. In the time other systems, no matter how fast they work, have been able to pull values from memory, perform whatever calculations are required, and come up with the time to open the injector, conditions have changed. Under high RPM, high acceleration conditions, there may not even be enough time to perform all the required timing and fuel calculations. This can lead to dynamic errors of a surprisingly large magnitude. Recognizing this, the TEC has the ability to always perform the base fuel calculation, meaning more accurate fuel delivery, and therefore more power to accelerate, under even the most demanding conditions.
All these advantages add up to the smoothest running and hardest accelerating engine possible. Electromotive's inherently simple approach means you will get to the end results faster than with any other system. By addressing the real world needs of engines under dynamic, fast changing conditions, Electromotive gets you there quicker.

@Ingen luftmängdmätare används utan man mäter tryck/vakum i insuget, insugstemp och spjälläget. (luftmängdmätare går att använda om man har en nyare bil och man vill undvika besiktningsmannens nyfikna frågor)
